Why do 92% of New Year's resolutions fail by February? Because people try to change their actions without changing their identity. You cannot act like a millionaire if you still identify as a "broke student."
True transformation doesn't happen from the outside in. It happens from the inside out. This is the psychology of Identity Shifting.
The Thermostat Metaphor
Imagine your life is a room, and your self-image is the thermostat. If your thermostat is set to "Average," you might get a burst of motivation and heat up to "Success" for a week. But eventually, your internal cooling system will kick in, and you will self-sabotage back down to "Average."
The 3 Steps to Shift Your Reality
1. The Funeral of the Old Self
Sit down in a quiet room. Write down every trait of your current self that you hate: "Lazy," "Shy," "Procrastinator." Then, literally burn the paper. It sounds dramatic because it needs to be. You are signaling to your subconscious that that person is dead.
2. Script the Avatar
Create your new character like a video game. Give him a name if you have to. How does the "Level 10" version of you walk? How does he speak? What time does he wake up?
Crucial: Start acting like him before you have the results. The feeling must precede the manifestation.
3. Alter Your Environment
You cannot heal in the same environment where you got sick. If you want to be a tech entrepreneur, stop hanging out in gaming discord servers. Curate your social media. Change your desktop wallpaper. Your environment must scream your new identity.
"Fake it till you make it?" No.
It's "Be it until you see it."
The moment you truly believe you are the new person, the world will rearrange itself to prove you right.
